suburban-decay: I am following you just after reading that last post. It is so right. I'm planning on majoring in Photography next semester and I have a photography blog (not this one, and it still sucks a bit because I don't really post photos where I use models) and it really irritates me when people will call random stuff art especially when they use the camera on full auto!
Yes I know me too! That’s really cool though I’ll definitely have to follow you, I’m sure your stuff is really good. I plan on minoring in photography, (which I’ve just actually started so my work isn’t exactly as spectacular as I hope it to be), but it’s so annoying when people post their photos of random stuff (especially this weird Starbucks cup epidemic) and think it’s amazing. But thank you for agreeing with me, I’m excited to see your work on here!
Something that has been annoying the shit out of me lately is those pictures everyone and their mother seems to be taking of Starbucks brand cups. I don’t know how the fuck this trend caught on, or why people find it so interesting for that matter, but all of a sudden everyone with a decent camera thinks they can take a picture of a Starbucks cup as the main subject, and suddenly they think they’re like Dorthea Lang or Helmut Newton or whatever. Just because you can use the focus button like everyone else, and capture a crisp shot doesn’t make it artistic. At least try to put something else in the shot that makes it even the slightest bit more interesting! Honestly, I’m pretty sure I could find a million more things that are more interesting than a freakin’ Styrofoam cup, I mean come on. There are literally like a million of these photos floating across the internet, and I swear it’s like a ritual for people who get a new camera to snap a shot of a Starbucks cup and think they’re being original. And I’m pretty certain that the Starbucks’ cups and logo hasn’t changed drastically in like the past twenty years, so i don’t see where the interest is coming from. Just thought I’d point it out.
